Description

Welcome to Sumac Chaska! We are a family run hostel in the middle of the beautiful Inca village of Ollantaytambo, in the Sacred Valley. You will find us down the cobbled Chaupi Calle just seconds from the main square and 10 minutes from the train station.

We offer clean, quaint accommodation with a friendly atmosphere. We have a roof terrace with full view of all the surrounding mountains and their abundant Inca ruins. We welcome independent travellers, couples, families and groups with accommodation to meet all needs.

There is so much to see in Ollantaytambo (or Ollanta to the locals). You can visit a number of ruins for free as well as the main site for which you need a ticket. There's a beautiful trail to an Inca pool, the town itself is build on Inca foundations and many walls and doorways are being used today. Close by is the beautiful town of Chinchero, Moray and the famous salt flats of Maras. We are also half way to Machu Picchu from Cusco, so you can enjoy some time here from either direction. Make sure you schedule enough time to see everything and relax in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Hope to see you soon!

We offer airport transfers from Cusco, please ask.

Directions

Directions from Cusco:

There are a number of ways to reach us from Cusco:
- Taxi from the airport, offical, registered drives will charge $50+ for a private ride.
- By bus or shared taxi, there are 2 bus stations in Cusco: 'Pavitos' and 'Huaskar'. Some buses come direct to Ollantaytambo (or Ollanta). They all pass Urabamba where some require you change on to another bus to Ollantaytambo/ Ollanta.
The direct bus will be a couple of soles more than the journey requiring the change. The price is approx 6-8 soles (as of 23/8/12).
- You can also get a taxi share at these terminals, 12 soles per person (as at 23/8/12).

Both buses and taxi's leave when they are full, they run constantly until very late at night and from very, very early in the morning.

The transport will bring you to the main square and we are located on the street that runs down the side of Panaka Restaurant, to the right when you leave the taxi.

If the bus stops at the market, walk towards the square (market on your right), cross the square diagonally and follow the cobbled road by the side of Panaka, we are just 2 mins up the road on the right.

By train from Machu Picchu:
Its just under 2 hour train ride from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo.
You can either walk up the hill from the station, or get a motor taxi. The same road brings you all the way to the square, take the first left, down the side of Panaka Restaurant, we are on the right, 2 mins walk. (Motor taxi at 2 soles)
